Apprenticeships at the YMCA

On the back of last week’s National Apprenticeship Week, Nottinghamshire YMCA would like to recognise and applaud the fantastic successes of our apprentices!

Nottinghamshire YMCA, including YMCA Newark and Sherwood, has an incredible total of 13 apprentices, all studying different qualifications and on different levels of apprenticeship. We work in partnership with a number of training providers, which all support our staff on an ongoing basis to achieve their ultimate aim of successfully attaining a transferable nationally recognised qualification.

The apprenticeship programme is part of our charity’s ongoing commitment to staff development, and applies to both existing staff and external applicants who can apply when apprenticeship opportunities are advertised.

Malika Sharpe, who is a Business Administration Apprentice at Nottinghamshire YMCA, said: “Since undertaking an apprenticeship at the YMCA, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

“I am taking a Business Administration ‘level 3’ qualification, and I am working in Marketing and Human Resources, taking a lead role in delivering content for the organisation’s social media platforms. Working in the charity sector has taught me a lot about people and the core values that I should uphold in society, especially if a person is vulnerable.”

If you are a current member of staff who is interested in becoming an apprentice, please contact Emma Hodgett in HR for further information by emailing: emma.hodgett@nottsymca.org.
