YMCA’s housing provision in Mansfield provides 24-hour support for homeless young people (aged 16-25) living in Mansfield and the surrounding areas.

YMCA Housing support

Our supported accommodation consists of 31 beds for young people, featuring fully furnished rooms and a shared living area and kitchen for residents. While a resident is living at the YMCA, our trained staff team will deliver personal support to help residents regain the life-skills needed to move towards independent living.

Opening Hours: YMCA staff are based at the hostel 24 hours a day

Transitional houses

Individuals aged 18+ who require support along their journey of reintegrating into the community may be offered a place in one of our transitional properties, which are shared houses based in the community across Mansfield and surrounding areas.

Support from YMCA key workers is provided on an ongoing basis for residents living in thehouses until a person has regained sufficient independence to move on to the next stage – whether they can maintain a job or no longer require concentrated input from a support worker (etc.). Placement of residents in transitional properties will be dependent on the individual’s assessment and individual needs.

Support and training

All residents are allocated a key worker who meets with them regularly to offer support with any issues they may wish to discuss and to help them plan short and long-term goals. We can help with benefit applications, bidding for houses and any rent arrears, or managing other debt you may have accrued.

Before moving on from YMCA, we support residents to manage their own tenancy by equipping them with core skills such as budgeting and managing bills. To help our young people take steps to build a brighter future, we also offer various training programmes to any resident who is not working or training elsewhere, empowering them with an opportunity to take part in a range of skills-based training.

Talk to our YMCA reception team for more information. Each resident is expected to commit to three goals during their stay at the YMCA:

  • Respect the conditions of their license agreement
  • Developing a support plan towards independence through working with their key worker
  • Engaging in training, work, or other development activities during their stay
