Sizzling ‘Celebration Day’ for YMCA Mansfield

With lockdown measures beginning to ease, YMCA Mansfield wasted no time in hosting a Celebration Day to create the perfect opportunity for residents and staff to come together and enjoy the sunny weather in all its glory.

Boosting wellbeing

The team basked in this month’s heatwave by serving up a fiesta of fun and festivities – and what summer celebration would be complete without a sizzling BBQ lunch!

This valuable morale-boosting extravaganza would not have been possible without the generous backing of The Virgin Media O2 Together Fund, whose support helped YMCA residents begin to make the complex transition out of lockdown with an experience day to remember.

Housing Development Manager Sandra Young said: “Thank you to a great team for delivering this day, with special thanks to our lovely Housing Manager Moses for his top BBQing skills!

“It has been a trying year for everyone, and to see the joy on our residents’ faces as they turned out to enjoy good food and company as a team really makes it all worthwhile. Lifting residents’ spirits and wellbeing by showing they are part of something positive can so often be just as important as giving a person a safe place to live.”

Residents also got to enjoy a lovely trip to the seaside for some fresh air and team-building fun activities, such as trying their hands at cooperative virtual reality games in the arcade before putting their driving skills to the test and going head-to-head on the Dodgems.

YMCA Mansfield provides 24-hour support for local homeless young people through keyworker guidance and supported housing in the form of a hostel and transitional properties across the region.
