Andrea Shea, HR Director and member of the Executive Management Team has been at our YMCA for almost ten years. She reflects on working for the local charity and what the award means:
“Over the last couple of years we have grown in staffing numbers and in the diversity of what we deliver. It can be a challenge to keep a consistent culture but this award is recognition that we’re still getting it right – whilst working with more children, young people and adults than ever before, which is fantastic.

Our mission, based on Christian values, is to develop the mind, body and spirit of individuals, families and communities, and improve health and well-being for all. A diverse range of programmes and services are paid for by customers or funded by external agencies; holiday camps, adventure activities, youth services, health and leisure facilities and programmes, supported accommodation and settled care.
Nottinghamshire YMCA currently employs over 150 full time equivalent employees and has an active volunteer base providing over 9,500 volunteer hours each year. The organisation has a rich history dating back 145 years. It is currently developing plans for a multimillion pound Sports and Community Village in Newark.
Victoria Stubbings, HR Advisor at Nottinghamshire YMCA attended the awards ceremony in London. She has worked at Nottinghamshire YMCA for 5 years:

Stanley Harris, Accounts Assistant at Nottinghamshire YMCA, is a member of the Staff Engagement Group who meet monthly. The group discuss comments and suggestions put forward by the 150 people employed by the organisation and recently launched ‘Volunteer Leave’. Employees choose from a selection of projects, and by volunteering at one of these can claim back the time as annual leave.
