Members love our gym, the team, the classes, our fantastic range of equipment and its community atmosphere.
Right in the city centre of Nottingham, close to public transport links. Our changing rooms are smart and clean with large lockers and powerful, hot showers. YMCA gym is open 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week.

running club

YMCA running club is open to all. We hold training sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and our runners hold social runs and enter races all year round. All abilities are welcome. No one gets left behind!

CrossFit is constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. CrossFit workouts are based on functional movements, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more.
CrossFit classes at YMCA gym take place in our unique 1871 facility. While CrossFit challenges the world's fittest, the programme is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual, regardless of experience. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change the programme. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree, not kind.

strength and conditioning

Our strength and conditioning classes combine coaching, insight, and support to give you the best and most effective gym experience.
Group training sessions in our unique 1871 facility combine the attention of personal training with an unrivalled team atmosphere. Workouts are carefully scaled to each member’s ability, so anyone can take part, prevent injuries and improve their physical performance and movement quality.

open gym

Open gym sessions are your time to perfect technique, practice your movements and work out at your own pace.
The atmosphere is a little more relaxed, and there is always one of our Coaches in attendance to offer tips and advice.

Priority booking for seminars and workshops

Our programme of seminars and workshops deliver insight on a broad range of health and fitness topics: from movement, to mobility, nutrition, strength, Olympic lifting, motivation, recovery and more.

1871 taster session

New to strength and conditioning or CrossFit? Come and try a taster session. Free to members and non-members alike, our taster sessions are a great way to sample a class and meet our community.

1871 fundamentals course (group)

Our fundamentals course takes place over three 90 minute sessions. During this time we’ll guide you some of the movements and skills that you are likely to encounter during our strength and conditioning, and CrossFit classes.
You’ll be shown how to use equipment safely, and meet some of the people starting at the same time as you. There will be plenty of time to ask questions.
Our aim is to prepare you to hit the ground running on your 1871 membership.
