The YMCA Gym Games 2022

Monday 16th – Monday 23rd May

Take part in our YMCA Gym Games 2022! Starting Monday 16th May, all members are welcome to join our fun and friendly games – and win some great prizes!

  • Choose which event you would like to compete in.
  • Book an appointment with an instructor, either online, via the YMCA gym app (Appointments tab), or ask if an instructor is available when you’re next in to go through a warm up and progression to exercise.
  • Perform the chosen activity – giving it your best shot!
  • Your result will be recorded by the instructor. Top 5 placings will be added to our leaderboard poster on the main gym floor.
  • Winners announced on Thursday 26th May.

Although entry to the Gym Games 2022 is free, we are asking for a suggested donation of £2 to help support our charity’s work with young people across Nottinghamshire.

The Events 

ROW – 500m for time
RUN – 1km for time
CIRCUIT – 3 rounds for time:
• 10 studio shuttle runs
• 10 press ups
• 10 ball slams
• 10 burpees

for time (as a 2 or 3 person relay):
1500m row
120 air squats
120 push ups
120 box jumps

The Rules

Performed on the main gym floor
Rower to be set up for 1x 500m interval 

Treadmill on any incline
Set up for 1x 1km interval 

Performed in the performance (weights) or 1871
Must complete 3 complete reps for score to stand
3RM must be completed within 3 attempts

Must complete 3 complete reps for score to stand

Instructor must be present to spot when required – max of 1 lightly assisted rep 

Performed in the main fitness studio
Shuttle run lines must be touched by hand or foot – 10 complete lengths
Push ups can be scaled only when 10 full reps can’t be completed
Balls must be slammed from above shoulder height @min 3kg
Chest must touch the floor and a jump completed for a burpee to count 

Team relay
Performed on the main gym floor
Teams can consist of 2 or 3 members of same or mixed gender
Only one team member to complete scoring reps at any one time
Only 1 piece of kit to be used per team e.g. 1 rower & box between team
Team members can rotate during sets at their discretion
Sets must be completed in the order listed – Row > Squats > Push ups > Box jumps
