What is Melbourne Park Day Camp?

YMCA Melbourne Park Day Camp began as an alternative to Camp Williams to ensure that we could keep campers as safe as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic. The camp takes place at our YMCA Youth and Community Centre in Aspley, Nottingham, and is available for campers aged 4-13 to attend.

Encompassing a variety of indoor and outdoor sports, invasion games, and more, Melbourne Park Day Camp is a place where children from all backgrounds can come together to form new positive friendships, learn new skills, and build confidence. All activities have been planned with your children’s health and safety put first, adhering to all government guidelines. Your children’s wellbeing is our absolute top priority.

We believe children with the opportunities to learn through interactive experiences delivered by our role model Camp Leaders will make healthier choices as they grow into adults. Throughout their week at camp, campers receive awards for demonstrating the four core values of Nottinghamshire YMCA – caringhonestyrespect and responsibility. These values are important for young people to learn, now more than ever.

What to bring:

  • A positive attitude
  • Loud singing voice
  • Creative imagination
  • Healthy lunch and snacks
  • Clothes you can get messy
  • Full water bottle

Arrivals and Departures

time: 8am – 9am

There will be staff (Our Super Camp leaders!) on site at Melbourne Park Day Camp from 8am. The Camp Leaders will welcome the children, introduce them to the group and show them around the site. We will show children where they can keep their belongings and also explain how we’ll be using the space throughout the day. Please encourage your children to ask lots of questions if they have them!

Flexible pick-up: 4pm – 6pm

We won’t let any child leave without a designated adult. If someone else is picking up your child from site, please make sure:

  1. You have filled out a designated person for pick up form. This was on your booking form, but please ring 0115 711 7006 if you are unsure if you have completed it
  2. You let the Camp Director know on the day
  3. The designated adult has your collection password
  4. Your child knows who is going to be picking them up

“My children even want to come when I’m not at work! The way the camp leaders are with children make me believe they actually care and it’s not just a job. They are all really friendly and after using other providers in the past I can honestly say this camp has been our best holiday childcare experience to date – it’s one we will be repeating again.”

Camp Activities

We make every day at YMCA Melbourne Park Day Camp as exciting and varied as possible. By the end of the week, campers will have learned new skills, played lots of games in the great outdoors, and learned all about creativity and teamwork!

*Please note:

Activities are subject to change depending on each week of camp and weather conditions.

Arts and Crafts

We get children involved with a variety of artistic methods; painting, collage, clay modelling, decoration making and sketching. There’s no crafts project too big for our Play Leaders!

Core Values

Children will get to learn and understand the importance of our rewarding Core Values. These are Caring, Respect, Honesty and Responsibility.

We embed these values into all our activities within the Day Camps programme. Not only are these values a rewarding attribute for the children to have, but if they demonstrate genuine displays of the values, we will award them with awesome certificates and wristbands.

Outdoor and Indoor Sports

We’ll be playing football, cricket, rounders and loads more outdoor sports and games! We also try our hand at orienteering, outdoor team building challenges, and invasion games like Capture the Flag, Ultimate Frisbee, and GAGA Ball.

YMCA Day Camp Traditions

Campers can get involved with our legendary camp activities like Juice Jam, camp rallies, Soak a Coach, Coaches vs Children Challenges, and the Mystery Prize Box!
