Health, Fitness and WellbeingAs well as offering two state of the art fitness centres in the city, we provide dedicated community physical activities, and also run a GP referral scheme that supports people at risk of serious medical conditions... YMCA Day CampsNottinghamshire YMCA's Day Camp experience offers children and young people aged 5 to 14 the chance to get involved, learning new skills, making new friends, having new experiences and building their own self confidence... Youth WorkNumerous sessions across Nottinghamshire engage young people at risk of exclusion, who may not be in education, employment or training. In addition we have launched the fantastic YMCA Digital Music programme which has already broadcast it's own FM Youth Radio Station... HousingWith 2 hostels in Nottingham and Mansfield, we encourage residents to take up in-house training and employment to help them to break the cycle of long-term unemployment and homelessness... Facility HireFacility Hire is available at all 5 of our sites, the most frequenly used being the International Community Centre. Nottingham's Sony Centre rents it's space from our Shakespeare Street site, which also offers a huge sports hall. All Saints provides wellness rooms for hire. The Aspley Centre also has space to offer and birthday parties may be on the horizon, whereas Mansfield provides the Training Centre...
Many different events occur through YMCA facility hire, a full list of which can be found here. SchoolsNottinghamshire YMCA also provides activities to young people of all abilities at numerous schools and venues across the city and county, encouraging good/appropriate behaviour and a positive attitude to health and leisure. We are currently working with 44 schools across Nottinghamshire and deliver 224 Planning, Preparation & Assessment sessions per week. Due to the success of our PPA provision, we have employed a number of staff to teach the 8,900 children we work with in these schools... Furthermore we continue the Pastoral Care project in schools. Pastoral Care workers afford any child or young person discussion of any personal issues outside of the teachers and pupils who surround them. Results have shown remarkable improvements to everyday effort and attitude... International ProjectsNottinghamshire YMCA actively supports YMCAs in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi. We also have links with YMCAs in Baden-Baden, Germany, and in the USA... Christian and Spiritual DevelopmentRob Hurd, our Christian and Spiritual Development worker, regularly conducts gym pastoring at All Saints if you have any issues you want to discuss... In addition, if you need help with Children/Youth activities, we can recommend some excellent resources. Rob has written some extremely valuable books offering advice on activities in a range of settings, with practicality being the key...
