Sleep Easy Event an Amazing Success!Sleeping out in cold weather is not a choice anyone would make. But thank you to the brave souls who did just that on Friday 5th February. Apart from giving a tiny taste of what it's like to be homeless, the event raised vital funds for projects that make a difference to disadvantaged young people - Nearly £10,000! Raising awareness about homeless young people is a hard task. Many young people experience a loving home environment. Taking advantage of educational opportunities many will go on to enjoy life and achieve their goals. But for a growing number there is no shining future - unless someone intervenes. Sleeping out for a night at All Saints helped Nottinghamshire YMCA offer that help, and make a difference to a young person.
Nottinghamshire YMCA supports more than 100 people at any one time who would otherwise be homeless. Providing safe accommodation with the support of a dedicated key worker, specific issues can be addressed, if necessary in partnership with other professionals. At the YMCA our residents are challenged to change their perceptions about themselves and encouraged to aim higher.
