Active for Life is a Physical Activity on Referral Service that is funded by NHS Nottingham City.

Our aim is to help you to…

  • Get more active
  • Make positive and lasting changes to your life

Active for Life sessions are for people who don’t already take regular exercise so there’s no need to worry that you won’t be able to keep up, as our experienced instructors will ensure that everybody goes at their own pace.

Sign up in person, by phone, text, email or complete our ONLINE FORM. A member of the team will call you to chat about your needs and to book you onto your induction session.

Register over the phone of by visiting the Active for Life centre.

 

Introductions 30 Mins

Meet with friendly, knowledgable staff.

 

12 Weekly Sessions 2 Hours per Week

1 hour circuit class which incorporates cardiovascular fitness and strengthening exercises, followed by 1 hour educational workshop covering health benefits, your goals and your diet.

Rewards Along the Way

After the completion of your 4th 2-hour session, you gain full access to our fitness centre and our community classes for the remainder of your weekly sessions - all for free. This is subject to full attendance thus far.

It doesn't end at the end

On completion of your 12 weekly sessions, you will qualify for discounted gym membership. You will also receive guidance on community activities which help to continue your healthy change.

 

We'll Keep Track of Everything

Throughout the course, we discuss your progress and take measurements at weeks 1, 6 and 12.

Terms

• Adults 18 years +
• High CVD Risk or existing CVD (Cardiovascular Disease)
• Inactive (less than 5 x 30 minutes per) + 1 or more CVD risk factor identified
• Poor diet + 1 or more CVD risk factor identified
• Committed to the 12 week programme
