Steffen Benbow - steffen.benbow@nottsymca.org
This are holiday camps for children at Rushcliffe Leisure Centre where children take part in sports activities and group games during school holidays. It is very helpful for volunteers to have previous experience with children and possibly a Sports Leadership award.
We also have before and after-school clubs in Wollaton and Whitemoor.
For both roles volunteers need to be reliable, enthusiastic, pro-active and able to relate to children and their parents.
Stuart Clifford - stuart.clifford@nottsymca.org
We have various youth activities for 1 to 2 hour sessions after school and in the evenings at several locations throughout Nottinghamshire. There are also sessions during the school holidays. Youth work can be with young people from around 13 - 25 years of age.
The activities include music/radio, digital media, film, dance, drama and a homework club (Mansfield). The key requirement is an ability to relate to young people and to be able to encourage them to engage. We also have outdoor activities eg kayaking and climbing for which we need volunteers with relevant coaching qualifications.
We also run a range of Youth activities in the Aspley area throughout the day and evening. Please contact ian.joddrell@nottsymca.org for further information regarding those opportunities.
Alex Hall – alex.hall@nottsymca.org
Limited opportunities are available to work in our Club Y gym. Volunteers usually need to have a Personal Trainer qualification or some other relevant experience although occasionally we do have other opportunities available. Volunteers must be able to relate to a range of people, have a genuine interest in health and fitness and be reliable and flexible.
Tracey Beamont - tracey.beaumont@nottsymca.org
Opportunities may be available for help to run an activity. We also need people who can translate or interpret for residents who are refugees. Volunteers with specific qualifications or experience in counselling, welfare rights, sexual health etc are also welcome.
Volunteers must have a genuine passion for helping those who are socially excluded and have a caring, patient and enthusiastic manner.
Sue Waterston – sue.waterston@nottsymca.org
The Mansfield Hostel is for young people aged 16 to 25 so volunteers must have previous experience of working with this age group. Volunteers with specific qualifications or experience in counselling, welfare rights, sexual health etc are particularly welcome.

We have a small team of gym pastors from local churches who train in our gym and are available for informal discussion, prayer or signposting to other faith support groups. Gym pastors have to be available to train or attend fitness classes regularly and will have to provide references from their own church. The team is overseen by a local vicar and he can be contacted via will.wakefield@nottsymca.org
Will Wakefield - will.wakefield@nottsymca.org
Occasionally we have opportunities to join our board of Trustees who meet at least bi-monthly and have other meetings and work to undertake between those meetings. Board members are Trustees so must have relevant experience, be able to commit to attend evening meetings regularly and be able to undertaken additional work between meetings.
