This page sets out our mission and ethos (core values); namely the way we work and why we work with whom we work.
The Core Values of the Association have been developed and adopted as a framework on which we will 'build' the Strategic Priorities and subsequently, Operational Plan for the entire Association. Strategic drivers and priorities relating to our communities and mission are the essence of our work.
As a Christian organisation, we realise we are sometimes thought of as only working with other Christians or religious groups. Indeed, even our name (YMCA) helps to enforce this myth! We would like to say that we don't sing the YMCA song (or dress up as the characters either!!).
We'd like to explain:
Young people - We work with pretty much ALL age groups - our SWEL (Seniors With Energetic Lifestyles) will vouch for that.
Men - We are open to all, and support numerous female-only programmes!
Christian - We work with people from all faiths (and none), whilst our faith is at the centre of our work.
Association - Well, we ARE an Association, so one out of four isn't too bad!!

"We aim to provide quality services and facilities in a Christian environment which promotes the development of individuals".
Nottinghamshire YMCA has four core values and our commitment is to:
Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
Caring - To show loving kindness, compassion, empathy and interest in others. Nottinghamshire YMCA stands for values vital to a healthy society. It is essential for all our staff that we demonstrate love and care in every interaction with people around us.
Honesty - Truthful and genuine with self and others. We believe that personal and professional honesty is an asset to Nottinghamshire YMCA. Honesty is the foundation for the goal of excellence in staff performance and judgment.
Respect - Honour towards others, humility. Nottinghamshire YMCA serves many racial, ethnic, gender and religious backgrounds. It is imperative to show respect for the diversity of our members, clients, stakeholders and staff.
Responsibility - Trustworthiness; the ability to be depended upon. Responsibility is a two way process. Nottinghamshire YMCA has a responsibility to be accountable for its actions to users. You have a responsibility to be accountable for your actions with the YMCA.
