Departments: Children & School Services (up to 13)Our aim is that every child and young person will strengthen positive values, develop their commitment to service and their motivation to learn. We aim to provide the holistic development of children and young people, where every child and young person will deepen positive values, their commitment to service, and their motivation to learn. Nottinghamshire YMCA believes it is vital to provide progressive and purposeful 'Developmental Asset' based programmes that offer each child and young person the strengths needed to be fully prepared for adulthood.
Our aim in the Children & Young People's department is to build strong children and young people through activity based programmes. The YMCA provides sports, games/activities and arts & crafts projects that the children who attend truly enjoy. Our programmes incorporate the four core values into all we do and challenges each child to develop their mind, body and spirit.
PPAWe are delighted that Nottinghamshire YMCA's Children & School Services Department is nationally regarded as the current benchmark regarding PPA provision in schools. PPA (Planning, Preparation and Assessment) is a Government initiative which provides teaching staff with time away from the classroom to plan and prepare for lessons. We have created a programme where we provide staff to run sports and other lessons for pupils while teachers are taking PPA time. PastoralAt Nottinghamshire YMCA we are keen to develop brand new areas of work and to pioneer new projects. With this in mind we started the Pastoral Care Worker project in schools, which aims to provide the specific level of support required to facilitate the development of young adults. This is a fantastic partnership with the school, and extremely pleasing results have come from the first year's work, showing that a need is definitely being met.
