Full Time Gym Instructor Course 
Leading to CYQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Gym)

Nottinghamshire YMCA’s gym instructor course is an ideal first step into the health and fitness industry. The course focuses on the latest techniques and knowledge required for working in this ever changing industry and the diverse needs of the people who attend fitness facilities. If you are looking to gain employment in a health and fitness facility, or you are already working as a fitness instructor and require a nationally recognised qualification, this is for you.

Learners will cover:

• Anatomy & physiology
• Warm ups, dynamic stretching, cool downs and developmental stretching
• Develop a key understanding of the programming principles
• How to use functional and innovative gym equipment
• The use of cardiovascular equipment
• Introduction to body weight training
• Effective customer care
• Promoting physical activity to the general public

Part Time Gym Instructors Course
Leading to CYQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (Gym)

Our part time courses allow a more flexible approach including weekend, eveningand distance learning options.

Our weekend course allows you to fit learning around a busy lifestyle and is ideal for those looking for a career change. Contact time is over 6 consecutive weekends, 10:00am – 16:00pm. Access to our state-of-the-art ActiveforLife Health Centre is available throughout the duration of the course allowing you time to practice what you’ve learnt.

Terms & Conditions

1. Applications must be made on an official enrolment form or via our official website
2. The completed enrolment form contracts you to attend and pay for the gym instructor course(s) as detailed in the application
3. This application will only be accepted with the deposit of the full course fee. This fee is non-refundable except in the circumstances detailed below
4. We understand that occasionally, due to unforeseen circumstances, gym instructor applicants may have to alter their arrangements. In these cases every effort will be made to accommodate the change although there may be delays in enrolling students onto alternative gym instructor courses. A letter of cancellation, together with an alternative booking (on our enrolment form), must be received no later than 28 days before the start date of the original course. In such circumstances any fees paid will be transferred to the alternative course. In the case of cancellations not accompanied by an alternative booking, a refund of fees paid, less a 10% administration charge, will only be made if the cancellation is received no later than 28 days before the start of the course. N.B. No refund will be given for changes or cancellations made with less than 28 days notice.
5. If you are unavailable when gym instructor course materials are delivered to the address provided and they are not collected from the local depot an additional distribution fee may be charged
6. Charges for all gym instructor course material delivered within the UK are included within the course price
   

7. It may be necessary from time to time to change/cancel gym instructor course dates, content, venues and prices from those published. We will not be held liable for any costs/losses incurred as a result of any such changes. In the event a course is cancelled or you are unable to attend as a result of these changes a full refund will be issued
8. Nottinghamshire YMCA reserves the right to remove from any gym instructor course, students that fail to comply with its standard practices and procedures. We also reserves the right to refuse enrolments, or suggest alternative arrangements, if we believe it will not be in the best interest of the company, other participants or the individual concerned to attend a course
9. Applications for all gym instructor courses which require a pre-requisite qualification must be accompanied by proof of the required qualification
10. If your gym instructor course includes access to the ActiveforLife centre you are bound to adhere to the separate terms and conditions for those facilities

FAQ

Do I need any prior experience/qualifications to book onto a course?
Although experience of a gym/fitness environment is helpful there are no formal prerequisites to become a gym instructor. You will be given all the knowledge and tools you will require to find employment in the health & fitness industry.

Can I pay in instalments?
Unfortunately at this time we do not offer the option to pay in instalments although we are looking into options.

Do I need to be physically fit to become a gym instructor?
A basic level of fitness is required as you will be expected to demonstrate common gym exercises as part of your assessment.

What support is available during my course?
As well as comprehensive written resources your tutor is available via phone or email before, during and after your course for support, advice and guidance.
