Let's get down to businessStrategic PrioritiesThe strategic priorities guide our day-to-day work, as from these priorities, we set the objectives for the Annual Operational Plan...
Board of TrusteesNottinghamshire YMCA is ultimately governed by the Board of Trustees. All Trustees are Volunteers, which helps us to show that we are dedicated to facilitating a volunteer culture. The Board's central role is to maintain the direction of Nottinghamshire YMCA and to act as an advisory, decision-making and approval body to guide the strategic development of the YMCA and to ensure that we achieve our aims and objectives. In recent years, the membership of the Board has changed as Trustees' skills have been aligned with the needs of the Association. Current Board members come from a range of professions including accountancy/finance, personnel, management, Christian ministry and local government. In addition to the Board of Trustees there are Housing, Personnel, Finance, Health and Safety and Programmes Committees that oversee specific areas of work in the Association. Many of our Board members also sit on these Committees. Relevant reports and other activities which are brought to the attention of these Committees are also taken to the Board for information purposes or ratification of decisions and recommendations. How do we spend the money?
Nottinghamshire YMCA is a registered charity and it is a legal requirement for us to undertake an annual audit of our accounts. Our most recent audited accounts can be viewed on the Charity Commission website. Nottinghamshire YMCA is also a Housing Association and a limited company which means that our annual accounts are inspected by both the Housing Corporation and Companies House. Our spending and budgets are closely monitored by our Finance Committee which meets on a monthly basis and is led by volunteers from outside the YMCA with financial expertise. In addition, our annual budget and any large expenditure is always approved by our Board of Trustees (see left). Grant FundersGrant funders also require evidence of financial soundness and our accounts are supplied to them for inspection, together with statistical information containing outcomes from the relevant projects. Chief Executive's Report to the BoardDelivered on 30th March 2009, this is the report that our CEO, Will Wakefield, put together for our Board of Trustees. It essentially conveys just what we have been up to as a business of late... Topics covered in this report are...
